Calcium Chloride is a significant inorganic salt and multifunctional additive, renowned for its strong hygroscopicity, excellent heat of solution, and low-temperature properties. It plays a critical role in numerous industrial and technological fields. Its production primarily employs the reaction of hydrochloric acid with limestone (calcium carbonate), with the mainstream process being the acid-base neutralization of "calcium carbonate + hydrochloric acid → calcium chloride + water + carbon dioxide". By-product calcium chloride also comes from the waste liquor of the ammonia-soda (Solvay) process for soda ash production.
